Always remember to stretch I stretch after every workout I train x 6 a week so I do not miss stretching and I focus a lot on my spinal flexibility and strength as it’s important to me that I have a strong flexible back that doesn’t interfere with my gym training or cause me problems later in life… Many thoughts can get stuck into many weightlifters heads like Some believe that stretching is for gymnastics and yoga like we are just looking to put our bodies in weird shapes
stretching is over looked by so many weightlifters
Stretching plays a good part in muscle growth ! Every muscle in your body is enclosed with connective tissue fascia.. Fascia keeps the muscles in place over time training, ye our muscles grow but nothing happens to the fascia. There is no protein powder that targets fascia growth and your muscles grow until they become too compressed along the fascia. At this point your muscles are limited in growth by the rate of expansion of the fascia, which is very slow compared to what it could be. Stretching can also be overlooked by the fact that some may think it seems to decrease muscular size…¬† like you just finished an arm workout your arms are pumped, they’re a inch bigger, you look boss last thing you want to do is rid yourself of that feeling by stretching. We all know that pumped feeling doesn’t last long at all the blood and lactic acid leaves your arms. …Because of the intense workout and no stretching your arms stay in a semi-contracted state for hours and this very slightly decreases the range of motion in your arms …So Multiply this by 500 arm workouts and imagine how much range of motion you lose. and in 4 /5 years time you could scratch your middle back but today you rub your back against a corner wall. It not because you’ve gained muscle, it’s because you lost flexibility. Think about the importance of all aspects of what stretching and gaining and maintaining flexibility does for your body in the long run!

Fiona Mcnab fitbyfiona – #mondaymotivation : One of my goals this year is to really work on my spine alongside my weight training by getting that backbending in everyday I can for that healthy spine that is strong and flexible along with opening chest and shoulders l..practicing back bends it really helps with opening your hipflexors which we use bending at the waist and sitting so that benefit when it comes to your gym training it can help a lot when it comes to squating deeper and adding extra weight on to your squats , great to support your training leggings: @doyouevenwomen

Making definition I’ve always had an athletic shape and quads as I’ve come from an athletic background of tennis and also dancing so I’ve always been quite dominant lower body so I’m careful what exercises I do for glutes so that my legs don’t try take the lead ?? I don’t really isolate out on quads that much.. I varie my regimes and do a lot of body weight work for my legs too..But I work my legs most days to maintain goodshape and definition! #neverskiplegday And I always make sure I get yoga in around training to prevent stiffening up #balance #healthybodyhealthymind
